Iowa Gov. Reynolds Extends Harvest Proclamation; Weight Relief for Grain and Fertilizer Hauls Runs to Dec. 6

IOWA — Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds has signed a proclamation extending harvest-season weight relief for trucks hauling grain, fertilizer and manure, effective immediately through December 6, 2026. The extension lets vehicles hauling those loads exceed normal weight limits under set conditions (up to 90,000 pounds) to help farmers move crops faster with fewer trips during harvest; the relief does not apply to the interstate highway system. The state says the relief cuts down farm vehicle trips and eases harvest-season hauling pressure. It covers road transport of grain, fertilizer and manure across the whole harvest process in every Iowa county. The proclamation takes effect on signing, so farmers and haulers can schedule under the new rules right away; after December 6, standard weight limits return. Iowa is a major corn and soybean state with heavy harvest hauling demand, and such weight relief is a routine harvest-season measure.
