'I've Had It' Hosts Apologize After Laughing at a Charlie Kirk Joke as Cash App, Chewy and Other Sponsors Cut Ties

Jennifer Welch and Angie Sullivan, hosts of the U.S. podcast I've Had It, laughed during their Thursday, November 5 episode while reading listener posts at a joke about the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, and a clip of the moment then spread on social media. According to TheWrap, sponsors including Cash App and Chewy announced one after another that they would no longer sponsor or support the show. On Saturday, November 7, the two hosts posted a statement on the podcast's Instagram account apologizing, saying they should not have laughed, and saying they had donated to Everytown for Gun Safety.
According to TheWrap, the moment came in a segment in which Welch read out social media jokes from listeners celebrating the Democrats' midterm results. One post read, "We're digging up Charlie Kirk and doing it again," and the hosts laughed, with Welch managing to get out, "No comment." That portion has since been edited out of Thursday's episode, but the clip continued to circulate online. Kirk's supporters then pressed the show's advertisers to cut ties with the program, according to reports.
In their Instagram statement, the hosts wrote: "On Thursday's show, we laughed at a joke about Charlie Kirk. It was an insensitive joke, and we should not have laughed. We regret it, and we apologize." They continued: "Whatever our political differences, there is nothing funny about gun violence. We've long supported common-sense gun safety reform. To that end, we've made a donation to Everytown for Gun Safety, the largest gun violence prevention organization in America." The statement concluded: "We'll keep using our platforms to fight for the safety of all Americans."
Among sponsors, Cash App wrote on X on November 6: "We do not condone violence of any kind, and we are no longer sponsors of this podcast." Pet retailer Chewy wrote on X on November 7: "We do not sponsor or support the 'I've Had It' podcast. We unequivocally condemn violence in all forms. The comments made by the hosts do not reflect Chewy's values or what we stand for as a company." According to multiple reports, eyewear brand Zenni also said it had canceled advertising on the show, and bedding brand Boll & Branch said it would not advertise with the show now or in the future.
Charlie Kirk, the founder of Turning Point USA, was shot and killed on September 10, 2025, while speaking at Utah Valley University. He was 31, and the case against the man charged with his murder is still pending. Kirk's name surfaced in a separate controversy this week as well: a circulated clip of comedian Dave Chappelle's New York set drew a statement from Kirk's widow, Erika Kirk, which GSM has reported separately.
