Bowers Museum in Santa Ana Hosts a Monet Garden Lecture on November 11, with a Free Family Program and an Ancient Egyptian Astrology Talk on November 14
The Bowers Museum in Santa Ana, Orange County, California, has announced its mid-November lectures and family programs, with three events set for November 11 and November 14. The museum is located at 2002 North Main Street in Santa Ana.
On Wednesday, November 11, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., art historian Annalee Andres presents 'Art in Context: Garden Party! Monet's Giverny to the Modern Landscape.' The talk is part five of a six-part series and explores how today's museums are using prairies, ponds and innovative landscape design to transform the way visitors experience art. Tickets are $11 for members and $16 for general admission.
On Saturday, November 14, from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m., the museum hosts Music and Movement, a free family program led by a Bowers Museum docent, featuring a sing-along and a story inspired by the museum's collections and current exhibitions. The museum describes it as a hands-on way for young children to learn and explore through art. RSVP is requested.
That afternoon, from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m., Dr. Lingxin Zhang gives the ARCE lecture 'Personal Astrology and Wisdom Literature in Graeco-Roman Egypt.' The talk examines how, in first-century Roman Egypt, astrology was thought to shape everything from health to social standing, and asks how much of life was fate and whether men and women had equal control over theirs. Admission is free for members and $15 for general admission.
Also at the museum, a free Ceramics Fair takes place on Sunday, November 15, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and two new galleries, Art of Mexico and Central America and Bowers Legacy: The Making of a Museum, open on November 21. The featured exhibition Picasso Ceramics from the Rosenbaum Collection is on view through February 28, 2027.
