Gillman's Four Touchdowns Break Big Sky Record as Montana Routs Portland State 57-24

MISSOULA, Montana — Montana running back Eli Gillman made history on November 7 at Washington-Grizzly Stadium in Missoula, scoring four touchdowns in the Grizzlies' 57-24 rout of Portland State to reach 78 career touchdowns, passing the Big Sky Conference record held by Cooper Kupp. Gillman needed just 8 carries to pile up 196 yards; an 84-yard touchdown run early in the third quarter gave him the record outright, with Montana ahead 36-10 at the time, after a 43-yard score had earlier tied Kupp's mark of 77. Montana improved to 7-3 overall and 5-2 in the Big Sky, keeping its conference title hopes alive. The record Gillman broke was set by Kupp during his Eastern Washington career and had been considered one of the league's most untouchable marks. Montana faces a pivotal conference game next week, with Gillman's form central to its playoff push.
