Pittsburgh Veterans Day Parade Set for Nov. 7; City Facilities Close on Nov. 11
PITTSBURGH, Pennsylvania — The City of Pittsburgh announced on November 6 that, in observance of Veterans Day on Wednesday, November 11, city facilities will be closed that day; the annual Pittsburgh Veterans Day Parade will be held on Saturday, November 7, with traffic controls along the route. The city urges residents to plan trips in advance, as parts of downtown will be closed for the parade, and suggests leaving early or taking public transit and allowing extra time; residents along the route should also watch for temporary traffic restrictions. The Department of Public Works also announced that the fall yard-debris collection takes place the same Saturday, November 7: residents must place branches, leaves, grass clippings and pumpkins at designated curbside collection points before 6 a.m. that day, and the collected material will be composted to keep natural resources out of landfills. The city notes the parade and the collection fall on the same day, letting residents take care of both in one trip.
