Pacific Surfliner Suspends All Service Nov. 7-8; No Trains Between San Diego and San Luis Obispo

SAN DIEGO, California — The Pacific Surfliner suspended all service on Saturday and Sunday, November 7-8, with no trains running between San Diego and San Luis Obispo for two days. The shutdown was confirmed in a service notice (PSN 1128-99) issued by Amtrak and the Pacific Surfliner on November 4, as multiple segments of the LOSSAN corridor close simultaneously for construction and maintenance. The notice confirms that all Pacific Surfliner trains on November 7 and 8 are canceled with no alternative transportation provided, though Amtrak Thruway connecting buses will run as scheduled. Work in San Diego County includes phase five of the Del Mar bluffs stabilization, the Batiquitos Lagoon double-track project and phase two of the San Onofre to Pulgas double-track project. The North County Transit District's COASTER commuter rail between San Diego and Oceanside is also suspended on November 7-8 and resumes normal service on Monday, November 9. Amtrak advises that schedules are adjusted across the entire November 5-9 window and urges travelers to check the latest timetables before departing.
