Iowa Governor's Race: Sand Leads Overall at $59M as Lahn Wins the Final Stretch

DES MOINES, Iowa — The two candidates for Iowa governor filed their final pre-election fundraising reports with the state Ethics and Campaign Disclosure Board on October 30. Republican Zach Lahn raised about $5.9 million in the 13 days from October 15 to 27, while Democrat Rob Sand raised about $4.8 million over the same period, according to the Des Moines Register.
Most of Lahn's late haul came from a $5 million contribution by the Republican Governors Association's Right Direction PAC. His campaign has raised about $32.8 million this cycle, spent about $5.5 million in the latest period and about $32 million overall, and had roughly $840,000 on hand.
Sand's late fundraising included contributions from his wife and the Democratic Governors Association. He has raised about $59 million this cycle, spent about $8.8 million in the latest period, and had about $1.3 million on hand as of October 27. The campaigns' next reports, the last of the cycle, are due January 19.
Sand leads in total fundraising and cash on hand, while Lahn edged him in the final 13-day period. Both are barnstorming the state ahead of the November 3 election.
