Nearly 27% of Tennessee Voters Have Already Cast Ballots

Saturday, October 31, 2026 · States · GSM News

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Nearly 27 percent of Tennessee voters have already cast early or absentee ballots for the November 3 election, according to statistics from the Tennessee Division of Elections reported by The Tennessean on October 31.

The figure is a 45 percent increase over early voting in 2022, when Governor Bill Lee was reelected, but still 7 percent below the early-vote total in 2018, the last open governor's race. About a dozen counties have surpassed their 2018 early-vote levels, with the strongest gains around Nashville and in parts of upper East Tennessee; Montgomery County, home to Clarksville, is at about 21 percent, up 5 points from 2018.

Many rural counties, by contrast, are down by double digits, and the three big urban counties — Davidson, Shelby and Knox — each stand at about 31 percent of registered voters, slightly below 2018. Voters can still cast ballots on Election Day, November 3.
