The men's open race at the 2026 TCS New York City Marathon was decided on Sunday, November 1, in New York City: Sweden's Andreas Almgren crossed the Central Park finish line in Manhattan in 2 hours, 6 minutes, 1 second to win in his marathon debut. He finished 13 seconds ahead of Italy's Yemaneberhan Crippa, becoming the first Swedish winner in the race's history and the first European men's champion in 30 years.

Almgren, the 2025 World Championships bronze medalist at 10,000 meters, had focused on track racing before this race. He stayed in the lead pack throughout, was tied for the lead at 40K in 2:00:00, and pulled away through Central Park to finish just 1 minute, 3 seconds outside the course record.

The top American man was Zouhair Talbi, sixth in 2:06:43, breaking Alberto Salazar's American course record from his 1981 win. Conner Mantz finished 11th in 2:07:27.

This year's race marked the 50th anniversary of the five-borough course, with about 60,000 runners taking part, and was the final World Marathon Major of 2026. The route starts at Fort Wadsworth on Staten Island and finishes on West Drive in Central Park near 67th Street.

GSM reported the wheelchair and women's results earlier in the day: Switzerland's Marcel Hug and Catherine Debrunner won the wheelchair races, and Kenya's Sheila Chepkirui won the women's open race in 2:24:36 for her second New York title.
