Follow-Up: Zelenskyy Tells Fox News He Is Ready to Freeze Current Front Lines to End the War

Thursday, October 22, 2026 · World News · GSM News

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in an October 21 interview with Fox News host Brian Kilmeade that Ukraine is ready to freeze the current front lines to end the war. Asked whether he would accept freezing the lines where they stand to stop the killing and let people return to normal life, Zelenskyy replied: "Yes, right now, we have to freeze." He said he believes President Trump wants to end the war.

Zelenskyy said the war has displaced 9.5 million Ukrainians and that Ukraine cannot afford to lose another generation, and he urged U.S. and European allies to keep up pressure on Russia.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said the same day, via Interfax, that the European Union is still working to prolong the conflict. Zelenskyy later posted on X denouncing Russian air strikes on Ukraine.

In two related developments the same day, Trump secured Russia's release of detained U.S. citizen Stephen Hubbard, and Putin agreed in principle to resume trilateral talks after November 10; see the related report.
