The San Diego Symphony has two Masterworks weekends worth marking at the Jacobs Music Center in San Diego, San Diego County, California, this November. On November 14 at 7:30 p.m. and November 15 at 2 p.m., Music and Artistic Director Rafael Payare conducts, and pianist Daniil Trifonov makes his debut with the orchestra in Brahms's Piano Concerto No. 1, paired with Shostakovich's Symphony No. 10.
The following weekend, on November 20 at 7:30 p.m. and November 22 at 2 p.m., Payare teams with pianist Inon Barnatan for Liszt's Piano Concerto No. 1, on a program with Mahler's Symphony No. 6, the 'Tragic.' Barnatan is a frequent collaborator of the orchestra.
Payare's contract with the San Diego Symphony has been extended through the 2028–29 season. The Jacobs Music Center, comprehensively renovated and reopened, is now in its third season as one of Southern California's leading classical venues. Ticket information is on the orchestra's website.
The San Diego Symphony has posted a preview of its 2026–27 Jacobs Masterworks season on its official channel; Trifonov's debut is among the season's highlight concerts.
