Steelers Release Veteran Safety Rayshawn Jenkins Before Paris Game: 16 Tackles in Six Games

The Pittsburgh Steelers on October 21 announced the release of 32-year-old veteran safety Rayshawn Jenkins, just days before their Week 7 game against the New Orleans Saints in Paris on Sunday, October 25, the NFL's first regular-season game in France.
Jenkins joined the Steelers in August amid uncertainty at the safety position. In six games with one start in 2026, he recorded just 16 combined tackles. Reports have speculated the move may signal that a standout defender is ready to return from injured reserve.
Now in his 10th NFL season, Jenkins previously played for the Los Angeles Chargers (2017–2020), Jacksonville Jaguars (2021–2023), Seattle Seahawks (2024) and Cleveland Browns (2025). In 145 career games with 93 starts, he has 578 combined tackles, 20 tackles for loss, 34 passes defended and 11 interceptions.
