On November 3, 2026, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met in Beijing with Thai Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sihasak Phuangketkeow, who was on a working visit to China and attending the 11th Lancang-Mekong Cooperation (LMC) Foreign Ministers' Meeting.

Wang Yi said the two heads of state have kept close communication and jointly led the building of a China-Thailand community with a shared future, and that China appreciates the new Thai government under Prime Minister Anutin for its firm friendly policy toward China. China is ready to strengthen strategic communication, deepen mutually beneficial cooperation and prepare for high-level exchanges in the next stage.

Wang Yi said China-Thailand economic and trade cooperation is mutually beneficial. China will continue to open its super-large market to Thailand, encourage more Chinese companies to invest in Thailand, and expand cooperation in emerging fields such as super intelligence (SI), computing centers and semiconductors. He expressed the hope that Thailand will keep providing a stable, sound and predictable business environment for Chinese companies. The two sides should step up their joint crackdown on online gambling and telecom fraud to root out the soil in which such crimes breed.

Wang Yi noted that the LMC is one of the most successful sub-regional cooperation mechanisms in the region, and that China and Thailand, as co-chairs, will prepare for the fifth LMC leaders' meeting. The two sides will also strengthen coordination within APEC, China-ASEAN and other multilateral mechanisms.

Sihasak said Thailand firmly follows the one-China policy and is ready to remain China's strategic partner, deepen cooperation in connectivity, trade and investment, and green transition, jointly combat online gambling and telecom fraud, and welcome more Chinese investment. Thailand will work with China to hold a successful LMC foreign ministers' meeting and prepare for the fifth LMC leaders' meeting. (Source: Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China)
