Iran's Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei Says Those Expecting a US Policy Shift Are Greatly Mistaken

Wednesday, November 4, 2026 · World · GSM News

Tehran — Iran's Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei said in a written statement on November 4 that US hostility toward Iran will not change through partisan shifts in Washington or through Iranian concessions, and that those who believe otherwise are greatly mistaken. The statement, published on his website, marked Iran's National Day of Struggle Against Global Arrogance, the anniversary of the 1979 seizure of the US Embassy in Tehran.

Khamenei warned that any renewed US aggression would draw a response on a much greater scale. He said Iran's destruction of US bases in the region and its management of the Strait of Hormuz had been part of a campaign against US hegemony, adding that the US sees the end of its hegemony as distant while Iran sees it as near.

The statement came hours after the US midterm election results. Iran's Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf had posted earlier the same day that US voters had said no to war, while Vice President JD Vance had said before the election that US-Iran talks were making progress with no deadline set for resuming strikes. The Supreme Leader's message signaled that Tehran does not intend to adjust its stance toward Washington or its negotiating conditions because of the election outcome.
