Brigham Nurses Leaflet in Boston as Open-Ended Strike Looms on November 12

BOSTON, Mass. — The Massachusetts Nurses Association announced on November 6 that nurses from Brigham and Women's Hospital and their supporters took to the streets of Boston that day, leafleting outside businesses linked to board members of Mass General Brigham to press management to offer a fair contract protecting patient safety at bargaining on November 9 — or face an open-ended nurses' strike beginning November 12.
The November 6 leafleting began at 10:30 a.m. outside THL Partners at 100 Federal Street in Boston; the firm's co-CEO, Scott Sperling, also chairs the health system's board. A second action is set for 11 a.m. on November 8 outside the Quin House.
The association noted that Mass General Brigham is Massachusetts' most profitable hospital system, with $2.3 billion in profits and $35 billion in assets, yet has continued cutting investment in patient care.
The association said nurses are prepared to bargain as long as it takes to reach a fair contract, but management must return to the table on November 9. Founded in 1903, the Massachusetts Nurses Association is the state's largest union of registered nurses.
