Dallas Voters Reject $443 Million Public Safety Bond, With About 56% Opposed

Friday, November 6, 2026 · States · GSM News

DALLAS, Texas — Voters in Dallas rejected Proposition A, a $443 million public safety bond, in the November 3 midterm election. Unofficial returns showed about 56% voting against the measure; the results have not yet been formally certified.

The borrowing was intended for five categories of public safety facilities: about $150 million for evidence storage, vehicle storage and crime-lab facilities; about $149 million for a public safety training complex near Dallas Executive Airport; about $82 million to help finish the Dallas Police Law Enforcement Training Center at UNT Dallas; about $40 million to relocate the 911 call center and emergency operations center out of City Hall; and about $22 million to replace Fire Station No. 4 downtown.

With the proposition defeated, Dallas cannot issue bonds under that authorization and will need other funding sources for its public safety facilities. Counting from the November election is still being wrapped up, and results are expected to be formally certified later in November.
