[Video] Follow-Up: NASA Holds November Moon Base Update at Kennedy Space Center, With Administrator Isaacman and Program Team

NASA held its November Moon Base update news conference on November 7 at Kennedy Space Center in Florida, briefing reporters on the latest progress toward a Moon Base near the lunar South Pole. The news conference took place during the MAX POWER aerospace expo, and NASA carried it in full on its official channel.
Taking part were NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman; Carlos García-Galán, manager of the Moon Base Program; Nicky Fox, associate administrator for science at NASA Headquarters; and Dayna Ise, acting director of the Utility and Infrastructure Office for the Moon Base Program.
Under NASA's published Moon Base plan, the build-out runs in three phases. Phase 1, from now through 2029, uses robotic and early uncrewed missions to scout, experiment and prepare ahead of astronaut missions in 2028, with up to 25 missions including 21 landings. Phase 2, from 2029 to 2032, begins assembling semi-permanent infrastructure and early habitation. Phase 3, from 2032 onward, moves to a sustained human presence on the lunar surface. NASA says the Moon Base is intended to strengthen American leadership in space, unlock scientific discovery and prepare for eventual missions to Mars.
GSM reported the scheduled briefing on October 30. Also on November 7, NASA opened a new round of astronaut recruitment, whose selectees could go on to fly to the Moon and serve in Moon Base missions. (Source: NASA)
