Federal Agents Search Rep. Ilhan Omar's Washington-Area Home; DOJ Confirms Judicially Authorized Warrant

Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) agents conducted a predawn search of the Washington-area home of Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) on Oct. 12. A Department of Justice spokesperson confirmed to Fox News Digital that agents executed a judicially authorized search warrant secured by the Department of Justice as part of an ongoing federal investigation.
Multiple agents wearing HSI jackets were seen outside Omar's Washington, D.C., residence in the early hours of Monday, Fox News Digital first reported. "Today in the Washington, D.C. area, Homeland Security Investigations executed a judicially authorized search warrant secured by the Department of Justice. This enforcement action is part of an ongoing federal investigation," the DOJ spokesperson said.
Two sources close to the investigation told Fox News the search is connected to a criminal fraud inquiry into Omar's immigration paperwork, which was filled out by her late father when she was a child. The Associated Press, citing people familiar with the matter, separately confirmed that HSI agents searched the home as part of a criminal investigation, though details of the probe were unclear.
About a month earlier, White House border czar Tom Homan said in mid-September that Omar was the subject of an ongoing "criminal" investigation, without providing details. Omar said at the time that Homeland Security officials had not contacted her about any investigation and dismissed the allegations as politically motivated.
Omar, 44, was born in Somalia, arrived in the United States in 1995 as a child refugee, became a U.S. citizen in 2000, and was first elected to the House in 2018 representing Minnesota's 5th district. She is a member of the progressive congressional group known as "the Squad."
As of Monday morning, Omar's office had not issued a public statement on the search. The Department of Homeland Security referred comment requests to the Justice Department, and the White House provided no details beyond the DOJ statement.
This is a developing story.
