Ukraine Launches One of Its Largest Drone Attacks of the Year on Russia; St Petersburg Oil Terminal Ablaze as Russia Claims 1,015 Drones Downed

Ukraine launched one of its largest drone attacks of the year on Russia overnight from Saturday into Sunday, targeting key oil facilities in St Petersburg. According to Reuters, local authorities in St Petersburg and the Leningrad region said the attack killed one person and injured 15 on the Russian side.
St Petersburg governor Alexander Beglov said fires broke out at the St Petersburg Oil Terminal, an oil depot and industrial warehouses. Russian e-commerce company Ozon said its logistics hub in St Petersburg was on fire, and internet company VK said a data centre in the Leningrad region had been attacked by drones, though services to users remained available. Ukrainian drone maker Fire Point said the Ukrainian military had struck the VK data centre near St Petersburg. Russia's Defence Ministry said air defences downed 1,015 Ukrainian drones over Russian regions overnight.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, quoted by TASS, said Russia was responding to Ukrainian attacks with systematic, large-scale strikes and that Kyiv's resistance could not change the course of events. According to CNN, Russian missile and drone strikes on Ukraine in the 24 hours to Sunday morning killed 11 people and injured nearly 50, including a large attack on energy facilities in the Odesa region.
The attack came amid confusion over an 'energy ceasefire': President Trump had called Ukrainian strikes on Russian refineries a 'disgrace' and said Russia and Ukraine had agreed to an energy truce, which neither side has confirmed; President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on October 18 that Russia had attacked Ukraine's energy and oil-and-gas sector 76 times in the week since the supposed truce was announced.
