Russian Ballistic Missiles Strike Kyiv on Wednesday Evening, Injuring Six and Damaging Homes and a Petrol Station

KYIV — Russian forces attacked the Ukrainian capital Kyiv with ballistic missiles on Wednesday evening, October 21, damaging homes, a petrol station and transport equipment and injuring six people, officials said, Reuters reported. The city's military administration said missiles hit some private homes, as well as a petrol station on the eastern side of the Dnipro River that bisects the city. Reuters witnesses reported explosions in the city.
Mayor Vitali Klitschko said on Telegram there were strikes in two districts on the east side of the Dnipro River. He said six people were injured, including four being treated in hospital. The city remained under a drone warning more than two hours after the initial alert was declared, Reuters reported.
The strikes come as US presidential envoy Steve Witkoff held talks this week with Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskiy and Russia's President Vladimir Putin to mediate an end to the conflict, which began with Russia's invasion of Ukraine in 2022, Reuters reported.
