Wednesday, November 4, 2026 · States · GSM News

Colorado's State Emergency Operations Center issued an update on November 4 saying it has moved to Level 1 response, with multiple state agencies supporting the southwest flooding response, and that the State Recovery Task Force was activated on November 4 for the 2026 Southwest Floods. The flooding began on October 23, and Governor Polis requested a federal major disaster declaration on October 31.

Disaster Assistance Centers opened on November 4 for Conejos, Rio Grande and Mineral counties. The Rio Grande and Mineral county center is at the old middle school gym at 810 Oak Street in Del Norte, open daily from noon to 6 p.m. Damage assessments are under way in the affected area, and residents are urged to report damage through Crisis Track.

The State Emergency Operations Center is fully staffed and continues to coordinate the flood response. Updates for Archuleta County and other areas are available through county websites. The centers will provide in-person help for residents seeking disaster assistance.
