Zelenskiy Awards Melania Trump Ukraine's Order of Princess Olga, First Class, for Her Role in the Oleshky Evacuation

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy has awarded U.S. First Lady Melania Trump the Order of Princess Olga, First Class. The presidential decree, dated November 2 and published on November 4, cited her significant personal contribution to humanitarian support for Ukraine and her work to help Ukrainian children, including those deported or forcibly moved from Russian-occupied territory.
The Order of Princess Olga is among Ukraine's highest state honours for women, recognising exceptional contributions in fields including science, education, culture and charitable work.
Ukrainian officials have said Melania Trump played a pivotal role in organising the six-day local ceasefire in the Russian-occupied town of Oleshky in Kherson region. The ceasefire concluded on Sunday and nearly 800 people were evacuated, in the longest local pause in fighting since Russia's full-scale invasion in 2022.
Zelenskiy also conferred Ukraine's Golden Heart distinction on Mark Beckman, a senior aide to the First Lady, for coordinating the U.S. side of the Oleshky mission, according to reports. Melania Trump is scheduled to host Russian and Ukrainian representatives at the White House on November 5, where the Oleshky humanitarian mission and its possible replication in other occupied territories are expected to be discussed.
