Russia's Foreign Ministry Renews Advice: Citizens Should Postpone Travel to Iran

Thursday, November 5, 2026 · World · GSM News

Moscow — Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova told a regular briefing on November 5 that, with the risk of a new escalation around Iran still present, Moscow's advice to Russian citizens remains unchanged: they should temporarily refrain from traveling to Iran until the situation is resolved.

Zakharova said Moscow is closely monitoring the situation in Iran, and that Russians already in the country should stay vigilant and avoid crowds, mass events and areas near military and government facilities.

The remarks came after the U.S. midterm elections. On November 2, Zakharova said signals that new military action was being planned against Iran were extremely alarming, and called for intensified diplomatic efforts and support for mediators. As of publication, the United States has not announced new military action against Iran.
