Bryson Fire Update: Containment Rises to 39% as Mapped Acreage Is Revised to 146.2 Acres
MALIBU, Calif. — The Los Angeles County Fire Department reported on Friday afternoon that the Bryson Fire north of Malibu has burned about 147 acres and is 39% contained, up from 17% in the morning update. The Watch Duty platform's evening figures match, at 146.2 acres and 39% containment.
The acreage has been revised several times: the fire was reported at roughly 200 acres on Thursday night before being remapped to 147 acres. Fire Chief Anthony Marrone said Friday morning that one firefighter suffered minor injuries, and a Friday incident update said more than 7,000 structures were threatened. Watch Duty's evening update said crews spent the day on structure protection and control lines, were scouting locations for secondary containment lines, and would continue a full suppression strategy as wind conditions improved. Evacuation orders remain in effect for zones KAN-U017 and SYC-U016-A, with 12 zones under evacuation warnings. The cause remains under investigation.
