Follow-Up: After Death Threats Over Her Endorsement of the Republican Candidate, Rep. Stevens Asks the U.S. Marshals for Protection

Tuesday, November 3, 2026 · US States · GSM News

U.S. Rep. Haley Stevens, a Michigan Democrat, has received death threats after publicly endorsing Republican Senate candidate Mike Rogers and has asked the U.S. Marshals Service for protection. Axios reported on November 3, citing two senior Trump administration officials, that one of them said Stevens is a member of Congress, her request is expected to be fulfilled, and it is being processed through the proper channels.

Stevens lost this year's Democratic primary for Michigan's U.S. Senate seat to Abdul El-Sayed. On November 1 she appeared alongside Rogers at a Detroit church and announced she was backing Rogers rather than her own party's nominee, El-Sayed, drawing a fierce backlash from Democrats. The content and source of the death threats were not immediately clear. Michigan's Senate race is one of the most closely watched contests of this year's midterm elections.
