Saudi-Led Coalition Bombs Sanaa Airport in Retaliation; Houthis Claim 124 Airstrikes Over Weekend as Yemen War Reignites

Monday, October 12, 2026 · World News · GSM News

The fallout from Saturday's deadly strike on Riyadh airport moved to Yemen itself on Sunday, as the Saudi-led coalition bombed Sanaa International Airport in retaliation, according to multiple reports. Houthi officials said Saudi-backed forces carried out 124 airstrikes over the weekend; the state-controlled Saba news agency reported no initial casualties or damage at Sanaa airport, and the figure has not been independently verified.

The airport-for-airport exchange began Saturday, when a Houthi missile hit Riyadh's King Khalid International Airport, killing 13 people — including a U.S. citizen — and wounding more than 300. Houthi spokesman Yahya Saree said the airport attacks were in response to Saudi airstrikes on Yemen, including Sanaa airport. Riyadh airport was hit again on Sunday, when a projectile struck Terminal 4 and started a fire. The Saudi-led coalition has called Saturday's attack a war crime and vowed a decisive response. On the ground, Saudi-backed Yemeni government forces are advancing against the Houthis near the Bab al-Mandab Strait, and President Trump has suggested the United States may join Saudi strikes against the group.
