Iran's Araghchi Holds Calls With 12 Foreign Ministers in 48 Hours, Urges Regional Security Free of Outside Interference

Saturday, November 7, 2026 · World News · GSM News

Tehran — Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said on social media on November 7 that he had held separate telephone calls over the past 48 hours with the foreign ministers of 12 countries to discuss regional and international developments. According to Mehr News Agency and other reports, the counterparts were the foreign ministers of Oman, Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Cyprus, Türkiye, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Tunisia, Iraq and Pakistan.

Araghchi said the calls covered the consequences of escalatory actions by the United States and Israel and ways to prevent further insecurity in the region. He outlined Iran's principled positions: respect for national sovereignty, an end to aggression and threats, and regional security arrangements free from harmful foreign interference and the involvement of extra-regional powers.

The round of calls came as U.S.-Iran talks and regional mediation continued: Qatar has said mediation remains active, and Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein, after speaking with Araghchi on November 6, proposed a committee of regional foreign ministers to shuttle between Tehran and Washington. GSM has reported those mediation efforts; this story records the Iranian foreign minister's latest diplomatic moves. (Source: Mehr News Agency)
