Alabama Senate Election: AP Calls Race for Moore to Fill Tuberville's Seat

The Associated Press called Alabama's U.S. Senate race on the evening of November 3 for Republican Barry Moore, who defeated Democratic candidate Everett Wess to fill the seat left open by Senator Tommy Tuberville, who ran for governor instead. Alabama is in the southeastern United States, and its capital is Montgomery.
The AP results page snapshot showed 1,948 of the state's 2,028 precincts reporting, about 96.06 percent, with an estimated 96.08 percent of the vote counted; Moore had 917,347 votes to Wess's 759,335. The AP declared Moore the winner at 11:17 p.m. Eastern on November 3.
Moore, a U.S. representative from Alabama, won the Republican primary runoff earlier this year with President Donald Trump's endorsement. The seat became open after Tuberville declined to seek a second Senate term and ran for governor. Moore will begin a six-year term in January 2027, joining Republican Senator Katie Britt in representing Alabama. Results are unofficial until canvassing and certification by the secretary of state's office.
