Idaho Senate Election: AP Calls Race for Risch, Who Wins a Fourth Term

The Associated Press called Idaho's U.S. Senate race on the evening of November 3 for Republican incumbent Senator Jim Risch, who defeated independent candidate Todd Achilles and other challengers to win a fourth six-year term. Idaho is in the northwestern United States, and its capital is Boise.
The AP results page snapshot showed 774 of the state's 986 precincts reporting, about 78.5 percent, with an estimated 78.52 percent of the vote counted; Risch had 298,603 votes, Achilles 192,619, fellow independent Natalie Fleming 37,814 and Libertarian Matt Loesby 15,544. No Democratic candidate appeared on Idaho's Senate ballot this cycle.
Risch chairs the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and has represented Idaho in the Senate since 2009, after serving as the state's governor. Results are unofficial until state canvassing and certification are complete.
