Israeli Defense Minister Katz: Mission Against Iran 'Not Yet Complete,' Says Tehran Is Seeking to Renew Nuclear Weapons Efforts

JERUSALEM — Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said on November 8, at a ceremony commemorating soldiers killed in the 1956 Operation Kadesh, that Israel's mission against Iran is "not yet complete," accusing Tehran of attempting to renew its efforts to obtain nuclear weapons alongside other activities that place Israel in real danger.
Katz's remarks came amid a political shift in Israel: President Isaac Herzog has decided to task Gadi Eisenkot with forming a new government, which could end Benjamin Netanyahu's tenure. His comments followed growing speculation about possible renewed Israeli military operations against Iran; the United States and Israel have already carried out major strikes on Iran's nuclear infrastructure this year.
Iran has consistently denied seeking nuclear weapons, saying its nuclear activities are for peaceful purposes, and Israel's latest allegation has not been independently established. Reuters reported on November 5 that Iran had submitted a nuclear proposal to the United States through Qatar.
