Arizona Governor Election: AP Calls Race for Hobbs, Winning Second Term Over Biggs

The Associated Press has called Arizona's governor race for Democratic incumbent Katie Hobbs, who defeated Republican candidate and U.S. Representative Andy Biggs. Arizona is in the American Southwest, its capital is Phoenix, and Hobbs will begin a second term as governor.
The AP results page snapshot (Race 3014) showed 1,270 of the state's 1,762 precincts reporting, about 72.08 percent, with an estimated 72.11 percent of the vote counted; Hobbs had 1,052,300 votes, Biggs 767,504, Green Party candidate Risa Lombardo 15,029 and No Labels candidate Teri Ann Hourihan 14,646. The AP listed the race as too early to call for much of election night before declaring Hobbs the winner as counting advanced; counting continues and totals will change.
Hobbs was first elected governor in 2022 by less than one percentage point and ran on pragmatism and bipartisanship. Biggs, a U.S. representative from Arizona, won the Republican nomination in July with more than 70 percent of the vote.
Democrats hold the Arizona Governor's Office. Results are unofficial until county and state canvassing and certification are complete, with certification due by November 23.
