Follow-Up: Drazan Concedes in Oregon as Kotek Wins Reelection by 9.7 Points

SALEM, Ore. — Oregon's race for governor formally ended on November 6, when Republican state Sen. Christine Drazan conceded and acknowledged that Democratic Gov. Tina Kotek had won reelection.
It was Drazan's second loss to Kotek, who beat her by 3.4 percentage points in 2022. In unofficial results released by the secretary of state's office as of 4 p.m. on November 6, Kotek led by 9.7 points; if that margin holds, it would be the largest victory margin in an Oregon governor's race since Democratic Gov. John Kitzhaber won reelection in 1998.
In her statement, Drazan said she had called Kotek to wish her well and that, although ballots remained to be counted, the remaining votes would not change the outcome. She said she was proud of her campaign and hoped Kotek would recognize that the challenges facing the state require a different approach. Kotek told reporters on the morning of November 6 that she had not yet spoken with Drazan at that point. The Associated Press called the race for Kotek on election night, and her lead grew as counting continued over the following days. In a November 4 statement, Drazan had not conceded, saying only that supporters should not lose hope.
