Maryland 2026 Election Results: Moore Reelected Governor; Chinese American Delegates Chao Wu and Lily Qi Reelected

Maryland voted in the 2026 midterm elections on November 3, and the results below are the collective choice of the state's voters. According to the Maryland State Board of Elections' semi-official count and Associated Press race calls, Gov. Wes Moore was reelected; all three statewide constitutional amendments passed; the U.S. House delegation was unchanged at 7 Democrats and 1 Republican with no flips; Democrats kept control of both houses of the General Assembly; and Chinese American delegates Chao Wu and Lily Qi were reelected. The full list follows.
Governor and U.S. Senator
Governor: Wes Moore (D), 1,164,684 votes, 62.7%, reelected to a second term, with Lt. Gov. Aruna Miller reelected on the same ticket. Called by the AP. The race was a rematch of the 2022 governor's election, and Moore defeated the same opponent a second time. Miller, born in India, continues as an Asian American holding the state's second-highest office.
Governor, other candidates: Dan Cox (R), 617,307 votes, 33.2%; Andy Ellis (Green), 38,329 votes; Cathy White (Working Class Party), 36,608 votes.
U.S. Senator: no election this year. Chris Van Hollen (D) is next up in 2028; Angela Alsobrooks (D), elected in 2024, is next up in 2030.
Other Statewide Offices
Attorney General: Anthony G. Brown (D), 1,237,330 votes, 66.9%, reelected; James B. Rutledge III (R) took 609,280 votes, 33.0%.
Comptroller: Brooke Lierman (D), 1,227,871 votes, 66.9%, reelected; Sonya Dunn (R) took 606,257 votes, 33.0%.
Secretary of State and Treasurer: Maryland has no elected secretary of state or treasurer (the secretary of state is appointed by the governor), so neither office was on the ballot.
Ballot Measures
Question 1: Amend state employee collective bargaining rules so the governor's budget must cover the wages, hours and benefits set by collective bargaining agreements. Yes 74.8% — passed.
Question 2: Allow temporary appointments to fill vacancies on the Judicial Disabilities Commission. Yes 66.8% — passed.
Question 3: Clarify that the state constitution's redistricting requirements apply only to legislative districts, allowing the General Assembly to redraw congressional districts, effective with the 2028 elections. Yes 60.1% — passed.
U.S. House
Overview: all 8 seats unchanged — 7 Democrats and 1 Republican, as before the election. No flips: all seven incumbents seeking reelection won, and the one open seat stayed with the same party.
District 1: Andy Harris (R), 55.8%, reelected, the delegation's only Republican.
District 2: John Olszewski Jr. (D), 61.6%, reelected.
District 3: Sarah Elfreth (D), 65.4%, reelected.
District 4: Glenn Ivey (D), 89.1%, reelected.
District 5: Adrian Boafo (D), 68.9%, newly elected, succeeding retiring fellow Democrat Steny Hoyer — not a flip. Boafo is the delegation's only newcomer; Hoyer held the seat for more than four decades.
District 6: April McClain Delaney (D), 56.4%, reelected.
District 7: Kweisi Mfume (D), 83.4%, reelected.
District 8: Jamie Raskin (D), 82.7%, reelected.
Chinese American / Asian American winners: none among the eight House winners. Chinese American wins in the General Assembly are listed in the legislature section.
State Legislature
State Senate: all 47 seats were up; Democratic control, no flip. Democrats held 34 seats to the Republicans' 13 before the election and remain in control; final numbers await certification.
House of Delegates: all 141 seats were up; Democratic control, no flip. Democrats held 102 seats to 39; in the count, Democrats lead in two Republican-held districts (33B and 38B), with final numbers awaiting certification.
Chinese American winner: Chao Wu (D) was reelected in House District 9A (Howard and Montgomery counties), taking one of the district's two seats alongside Natalie Ziegler. Wu was born in China.
Chinese American winner: Lily Qi (D) was reelected in House District 15 (Montgomery County). Qi was born in Shanghai and chairs the legislature's Asian American and Pacific Islander caucus.
Asian American winner: Clarence Lam (D) was reelected in State Senate District 12 with 96.4%.
All figures are from the Maryland State Board of Elections' semi-official count and AP calls as of the morning of November 4, with about 78% of the expected vote counted. Mail and provisional ballots are still being counted; state certification is set for December 3, and final results are subject to that certification.
