Alabama 2026 Election Results: Tuberville Elected Governor as Republicans Sweep Statewide Offices

Wednesday, November 4, 2026 · States · GSM News

Alabama voted in the 2026 midterm elections on November 3, and the results below are the collective choice of the state's voters. According to the Alabama Secretary of State's semi-official count (all 67 counties reporting) and Associated Press race calls, Tommy Tuberville was elected governor, Barry Moore was elected to the U.S. Senate, and Republicans won every statewide office on the ballot; all four constitutional amendments passed; the U.S. House delegation was unchanged with no flips; and Republicans kept control of both houses of the Legislature. The full list follows.

Governor and U.S. Senator

Governor: Tommy Tuberville (R), 872,076 votes, 51.8%, elected; Doug Jones (D) took 806,149 votes, 47.9%, a margin of 65,927 votes. Called by the AP. Gov. Kay Ivey was term-limited; Tuberville is to be sworn in on January 18, 2027. The race was a rematch of the 2020 U.S. Senate election, in which Tuberville also defeated Jones.

U.S. Senator: Barry Moore (R), 917,344 votes, 54.7%, elected; Everett Wess (D) took 758,397 votes, 45.2%. Called by the AP. The seat was held by Tuberville, who ran for governor; Moore's win keeps it Republican — no flip.

The state's other senator, Katie Britt (R), was not up this year; her seat is next contested in 2028.

Other Statewide Offices

Lieutenant Governor: John Wahl (R), 910,795 votes, 54.3%, elected.

Attorney General: Katherine Robertson (R), 919,903 votes, about 55.0%, elected.

Secretary of State: Caroleene Dobson (R), 54.5%, elected. Called by the AP.

Treasurer: Young Boozer (R, incumbent), about 55.0%, elected.

Auditor: Andrew Sorrell (R), 918,156 votes, 55.2%, elected.

Commissioner of Agriculture and Industries: Corey Hill (R), 901,282 votes, 54.1%, elected.

Public Service Commission, Place 1: Matt Gentry (R), elected.

Public Service Commission, Place 2: Jim Zeigler (R), elected.

In sum, Republicans won every statewide office on this year's ballot.

Ballot Measures

Amendment 1: Fill a vacancy in the office of lieutenant governor by special election, and authorize the Legislature to set pay for that office and legislative leaders, with travel expenses subject to approval. Yes 65.4% — passed.

Amendment 2: Establish a process for merging adjacent county school systems after state study and approval by voters in each county. Yes 50.9% — passed, by only about 1.8 percentage points.

Amendment 3: Daily recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance in public schools, and allow student-initiated and student-led prayer. Yes 62.6% — passed.

Amendment 4: Require public schools to play or perform the first stanza of the national anthem at least once a week. Yes 58.6% — passed.

U.S. House

Overview: all 7 seats have been called — 5 Republicans and 2 Democrats, unchanged from before the election. No flips; every seat stayed with the party that held it.

District 1: Jerry Carl (R), 137,025 votes, elected. The seat was held by Barry Moore; a same-party succession, not a flip.

District 2: Shomari Figures (D), 124,422 votes, reelected; Rhett Marques (R) took 107,049 votes.

District 3: Mike Rogers (R), 141,800 votes, reelected.

District 4: Robert Aderholt (R), 160,008 votes, reelected.

District 5: Dale Strong (R), 142,080 votes, reelected.

District 6: Gary Palmer (R), 149,921 votes, reelected.

District 7: Terri Sewell (D), 174,823 votes, reelected.

Chinese American / Asian American winners: none among the seven winners.

State Legislature

State Senate: all 35 seats were up; Republican control continues, no flip. Republicans held 27 seats to the Democrats' 8 before the election; exact post-election numbers await certification, with one seat still undecided, which does not affect control.

State House: all 105 seats were up; Republican control continues, no flip. Republicans held 76 seats to 29 before the election; exact numbers await certification.

All figures are from the Alabama Secretary of State's semi-official count and AP calls as of the morning of November 4. Provisional ballots and some military and overseas ballots remain to be counted; state certification is set for around November 25, figures may shift slightly, and final results are subject to that certification.
