Wednesday, November 4, 2026 · States · GSM News

South Carolina voters cast their ballots in the 2026 midterm elections on November 3, and the results below are the collective choice they made. According to the South Carolina Election Commission's semi-official count and Associated Press race calls, Republicans held the governorship and won every statewide constitutional office on the ballot, while the state's U.S. Senate seat flipped to the Democrats: Annie Andrews won, becoming the first woman elected to the U.S. Senate from South Carolina. The full list, item by item from the ballot, follows.

Governor and U.S. Senator

Governor: Alan Wilson (R), 1,050,190 votes, 51.59%, elected. He defeated Democrat Jermaine Johnson, 959,001 votes, 47.11%. Wilson, the state's attorney general before the election, holds the seat for Republicans.

Lieutenant Governor: Mike Reichenbach (R), elected on the joint ticket with Wilson.

U.S. Senator: Annie Andrews (D), 1,042,362 votes, 51.13%, elected. She defeated Republican incumbent Darline Graham, 951,165 votes, 46.65%, flipping the seat from Republican to Democratic. Graham, sister of the late Sen. Lindsey Graham, had been appointed to the seat.

Other Statewide Offices

Attorney General: David Stumbo (R), 1,058,525 votes, about 52.32%, elected.

Secretary of State: Mark Hammond (R, incumbent), 1,072,797 votes, 52.99%, elected.

State Treasurer: Curtis Loftis (R, incumbent), 1,061,819 votes, 52.53%, elected.

Comptroller General: Mike Burkhold (R), about 1,047,963 votes, 52.07%, elected.

Superintendent of Education: Ellen Weaver (R, incumbent), 1,031,719 votes, 50.98%, elected, in the closest statewide race.

Commissioner of Agriculture: Cody Simpson (R), 1,041,797 votes, 51.60%, elected in a four-candidate race.

Every statewide constitutional office on this year's ballot was won by a Republican candidate.

Ballot Measures

There were no statewide constitutional amendments or referendums on this ballot; the measures listed were county, municipal or special-district questions.

U.S. House

The state has 7 seats. The AP has called 5, four Republican and one Democratic, with 2 not yet called; the delegation stood at 6 Republicans and 1 Democrat before the election. None of the five called seats flipped. In District 1 a Democrat leads, which would be a flip if it holds, but the AP has not called it. No Chinese American or Asian American winners were found among the called winners or the two district leaders.

District 1: not yet called. Nancy Lacore (D), 161,878 votes, about 49.7%, leads Jenny Costa Honeycutt (R), 158,570 votes, about 48.7%, by roughly 3,308 votes.

District 2: not yet called. Joe Wilson (R, incumbent), 147,620 votes, leads Zyon Khalifa (D), 144,593 votes, by roughly 3,027 votes.

District 3: Sheri Biggs (R), 173,801 votes, about 63.7%, reelected.

District 4: William Timmons (R), 146,808 votes, 51.72%, reelected.

District 5: Wes Climer (R), 151,553 votes, 52.83%, elected in an open seat held by Republicans.

District 6: James Clyburn (D), 180,559 votes, about 69.4%, reelected.

District 7: Russell Fry (R), 172,308 votes, 56.75%, reelected.

State Legislature

State Senate: Republicans retain control with no flip. The Senate had no general election this year; the current split is 34 Republicans and 12 Democrats out of 46 seats.

State House: Republicans retain control with no flip; all 124 seats were up this year. Democrats gained at least 10 seats and Republicans lost their two-thirds supermajority; the post-election split is projected at about 78 Republicans and 46 Democrats, with final numbers awaiting certification.

All figures are from the South Carolina Election Commission's semi-official count (all 2,312 precincts reporting) and Associated Press calls, as of the morning of November 4. Mail ballots are still being counted and results become final only after certification by the Election Commission; GSM will update this list when House Districts 1 and 2 are called.
