Arizona 2026 Election Results: Hobbs Reelected Governor, Four of Eight Statewide Measures Pass

Wednesday, November 4, 2026 · States · GSM News

In Arizona's 2026 midterm election, Governor Katie Hobbs, a Democrat, won reelection with 55.6 percent, and Democrats also held the secretary of state's office and the attorney general's office. Of the eight statewide propositions, four passed, one was rejected and three remain uncalled. Only four of the state's nine U.S. House seats have been called, and control of the state Legislature has not been called: counting is still under way in Arizona, with about 83.5 percent of ballots estimated counted. These results are the collective choice of Arizona voters and are presented here as a factual record.

Governor and U.S. Senator

In the governor's race, Hobbs received 1,193,939 votes (55.6 percent) to Republican Andy Biggs's 916,236 (42.7 percent), and the AP has called her reelection. John Giles was elected on the same ticket and becomes Arizona's first lieutenant governor, in the state's first election to fill the office by ticket. The other candidates were Risa Lombardo of the Green Party (19,122 votes) and Teri Ann Hourihan of No Labels (17,505). Hobbs is the first Arizona Democratic governor to win reelection since Janet Napolitano in 2006, and according to AZCentral, Democrats holding the governorship, secretary of state and attorney general in the same cycle is a first since 1956.

No U.S. Senate seat was on Arizona's ballot this year. Senator Mark Kelly, a Democrat, is next up in 2028; Senator Ruben Gallego, a Democrat, is next up in 2030.

Other Statewide Offices

Attorney General Kris Mayes, a Democrat, was reelected with 55.4 percent, called by the AP, over Republican Warren Petersen. Secretary of State Adrian Fontes, a Democrat, was reelected with 1,167,801 votes (about 54.8 percent) over Republican Alexander Kolodin (932,274, about 43.8 percent), also called by the AP.

Three offices remain uncalled: for state treasurer, Democrat Nick Mansour leads Republican Elijah Norton about 53.7 to 46.3 percent; for superintendent of public instruction, Democrat Teresa Leyba Ruiz leads about 53.0 to 46.9 percent over Republican Kimberly Yee, the incumbent state treasurer; and for state mine inspector, Democrat Brian Matlock leads Republican Walter Presmyk about 52.6 percent.

The two Corporation Commission seats are uncalled as well, with Democrats Clara Pratte (about 27.1 percent) and Jonathon Hill (about 26.1 percent) in the two winning positions so far.

Ballot Questions

Proposition 141 (constitutional amendment) would bar taxes or fees based on vehicle miles traveled and bar monitoring or restricting mileage without consent. Uncalled, with Yes narrowly ahead, 50.7 percent (1,031,292 to 1,002,690).

Proposition 142 (constitutional amendment) would bar preferential treatment or discrimination based on race or ethnicity. Rejected: No won with 59.9 percent (1,224,913 votes) to 40.1 percent Yes, called by the AP.

Proposition 144 (constitutional amendment) would require government-issued photo ID to vote, limit voting to citizens and bar foreign-national election spending. Uncalled, with No ahead, 53.2 percent (1,103,008 to 970,349).

Proposition 316 would restrict local grocery taxes, requiring voter approval for new or increased taxes and capping the rate at 2 percent. Passed with 61.4 percent Yes, called by the AP.

Proposition 317 declares drug cartels terrorist organizations and directs the state homeland security department to respond. Passed with 57.0 percent Yes, called by the AP.

Proposition 318 requires schools to separate sports teams and private spaces by sex assigned at birth. Passed with 58.9 percent Yes, called by the AP.

Proposition 319 would bar the use of photo enforcement systems for traffic without voter approval, existing contracts excepted. Passed with 61.1 percent Yes, called by the AP.

Proposition 320 would require designated school districts to spend at least 60 percent of their budgets on direct instruction. Uncalled, with No ahead, 51.4 percent (1,040,978 to 984,961).

U.S. House

Arizona's nine U.S. House seats were held six to three by Republicans before the election. Four seats have been called, all for incumbents: Yassamin Ansari (District 3, Democrat), Greg Stanton (District 4, Democrat), Adelita Grijalva (District 7, Democrat) and Paul Gosar (District 9, Republican).

Five seats are uncalled: Democrat Amish Shah leads with about 52.5 percent in District 1, a Republican open seat; Democrat Jonathan Nez leads Republican incumbent Eli Crane by just 86 votes in District 2, the closest race in the state; Republican Mark Lamb leads with 51.1 percent in District 5; Democrat JoAnna Mendoza leads Republican incumbent Juan Ciscomani in District 6; and Republican incumbent Abe Hamadeh leads with 51.1 percent in District 8. No seat has been called as flipped.

Shah, who is Indian American, is listed as a leader only, not a winner; no Chinese American winner appears among the called races.

State Legislature

Control of the state Legislature has not been called. Republicans held the Senate 17-13 and the House 33-27 before the election. Democratic candidates lead in a number of Republican districts and Democratic legislative leaders have claimed both chambers, but counting is incomplete and there is no independent confirmation, so this report makes no call.

Counting and Certification

The figures above come from the Arizona Secretary of State's unofficial results feed and Associated Press data. Mail ballots are still being counted, uncalled offices, propositions and seats are listed by their current leader only, and statewide certification must be completed by November 23. Final results are subject to official certification.
