Nevada 2026 Election Results: Aaron Ford Elected Governor, Two Constitutional Amendments Pass

In Nevada's 2026 midterm election, Democrats won the governorship and all six statewide constitutional offices. Attorney General Aaron Ford defeated incumbent Governor Joe Lombardo with 51.7 percent of the vote and will become the first Black governor in Nevada history. Both statewide constitutional amendments on the ballot passed. Democrats have secured three of the state's four U.S. House seats, with one race still uncalled, and they continue to control both chambers of the state Legislature. These results are the collective choice of Nevada voters and are presented here as a factual record.
Governor and U.S. Senator
In the governor's race, Ford received 506,653 votes (51.7 percent), Lombardo 432,732 (44.2 percent), independent Danielle Ford (no relation to Aaron Ford) 2.7 percent, and the ballot's "None of These Candidates" option 1.4 percent. The Associated Press called the race for Ford early on November 4, and Lombardo conceded on Wednesday morning. The Nevada Secretary of State's unofficial count, Ford 505,738 (51.73 percent) to Lombardo 431,367 (44.12 percent), matches the AP call, and the seat flips from Republican to Democratic.
No U.S. Senate seat was up this year. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto, a Democrat, is next up in 2028; Senator Jacky Rosen, a Democrat, is next up in 2030.
Other Statewide Offices
Lieutenant Governor Sandra Jauregui, a Democrat, defeated incumbent Stavros Anthony, a Republican, 54.5 to 41.1 percent, flipping the seat.
Nicole Cannizzaro, a Democrat, won the attorney general's office with 56.4 percent over Republican Adriana Guzmán Fralick (41.4 percent), holding for her party the seat Ford vacated.
Secretary of State Cisco Aguilar, a Democrat, was reelected with 57.1 percent over Republican Jim Marchant (39.4 percent).
Tya Mathis-Coleman, a Democrat, won state treasurer with 55.2 percent over Republican Drew Johnson (42.9 percent).
Michael MacDougall, a Democrat, defeated incumbent Controller Andy Matthews, a Republican, 54.5 to 43.3 percent, flipping that seat. The Democratic sweep of all six constitutional offices is the first since 1962, according to the Nevada Independent.
Ballot Questions
Question 6, the abortion-rights amendment, writes into the state constitution the right to an abortion before fetal viability and afterward when needed to protect the pregnant patient's life or health. It passed with 63.3 percent Yes (602,736 votes) and was called by the AP. Nevada citizen-initiated amendments must pass twice; having first passed in 2024, this second approval completes the amendment.
Question 7, the voter ID amendment, requires photo identification for in-person voting and a driver's license number, the last four digits of a Social Security number, or a county clerk registration number for mail voting. It passed with 62.3 percent Yes (597,624 votes) and was called by the AP. It also passed for a second consecutive time, completing the amendment.
U.S. House
Of the four U.S. House seats, three incumbents were called reelected: Dina Titus (District 1, 59.0 percent), Susie Lee (District 3, 59.1 percent) and Steven Horsford (District 4, 60.5 percent), all Democrats.
District 2 remains uncalled: Democrat Teresa Benitez-Thompson leads Republican David Flippo 50.7 percent (145,046 to 126,186). The seat was held by a Republican, so if the lead holds it would flip and give Nevada an all-Democratic House delegation, but the AP has not called the race.
No Chinese American or Asian American winner appears among the called winners and leaders in the four districts.
State Legislature
In the Legislature, Democrats held the Assembly, where all 42 seats were up, leading about 32-10 in the official count and reaching a two-thirds supermajority. In the Senate, where 11 of 21 seats were up, Democrats held control at about 13-8, one seat short of a two-thirds supermajority, with a few races still being counted. Neither chamber changed hands; together with the governor's office, Democrats now hold the governorship and both legislative chambers.
Counting and Certification
The figures above are the Nevada Secretary of State's unofficial results (a snapshot from early November 4) and Associated Press calls. Mail ballots postmarked by Election Day are still arriving and being counted, the uncalled District 2 race is listed by its current leader only, and final results are subject to official certification.
