Don Leonard Flips Ohio's 15th District, Defeating Rep. Mike Carey About 52 to 45 Percent

The Associated Press has called Ohio's 15th Congressional District for Democrat Don Leonard, defeating Republican incumbent Rep. Mike Carey. AP's count, with about 98 percent of votes tallied, showed Leonard with 149,287 votes (about 52 percent) to Carey's 130,225 (about 45 percent), with Libertarian Brennan Barrington at about 3 percent.

Leonard, a professor of city and regional planning at Ohio State University, was a first-time candidate. Carey had held the seat since 2021 and previously won it by margins of more than 13 points.

The 15th District includes parts of Columbus and Fayette, Highland, Pickaway, Madison and Miami counties. By AP's count, Democrats won eight of Ohio's 15 U.S. House seats in this election.
