Delaware 2026 Election Results: Coons Reelected to Senate, No Governor's Race This Year

Delaware voted in the 2026 midterm elections on November 3, and the results below are the collective choice of the state's voters. According to the Delaware Department of Elections' unofficial count and Associated Press race calls, Chris Coons was reelected to the U.S. Senate, Sarah McBride was reelected to the U.S. House, and Democrats won the three other statewide offices. There was no governor's race and no statewide ballot question this year. The full list follows.
Governor and U.S. Senator
Governor: no race this year (this section is retained and noted for completeness). Gov. Matt Meyer (D) was elected in 2024; the office is next contested in 2028.
U.S. Senator: Chris Coons (D), 240,347 votes, 63.6%, reelected. Called by the AP.
U.S. Senate, other candidates: Mike Katz (R) trailed Coons by more than 100,000 votes; his exact total will be added after the official count review. The state's other senator, Lisa Blunt Rochester (D), was not up this year; her seat is next contested in 2030.
Other Statewide Offices
Attorney General: Kathy Jennings (D), 240,429 votes, 63.62%, elected.
Treasurer: Ted Lauzen (D), 235,597 votes, 62.43%, elected.
Auditor of Accounts: Lydia York (D), 227,502 votes, 60.39%, elected.
Note: figures in this section are from the Department of Elections' unofficial count; the AP has not separately confirmed each call beyond the attorney general's race, and all are subject to certification.
Ballot Questions
There were no statewide ballot questions this year (this section is retained and noted for completeness): Delaware constitutional amendments are adopted by two successive legislatures and are not put to a statewide popular vote.
U.S. House
Overview: the state has one seat (a single at-large district), held before and after the election by Democrats, with no flip.
At-Large District: Sarah McBride (D), 243,467 votes, 64.3%, reelected. Her opponent was Joseph Arminio (R). Called by the AP.
Chinese American / Asian American winners: none; no Chinese American or Asian American winner was found for the state's only House seat.
State Legislature
State House: 41 seats, all up this year. Democrats kept control with no flip of control, rising from 27 seats to 30 against 11 Republicans — reaching the two-thirds threshold (28 seats) needed for constitutional amendments for the first time.
State House flip: in District 34 (Kent County), Democrat Annie Norman defeated Republican incumbent Lyndon Yearick by 4,905 votes to 4,755. Three Republican seats flipped to Democrats overall with no Democratic seat lost; the districts and winners for the other two flips will be added when confirmed.
State Senate: 21 seats, 11 up this year and 10 not on the ballot. Democrats kept control at 15-6 over Republicans, retaining a two-thirds majority, with no flip of control.
In sum, Democrats held both chambers before and after the election, and the House rose from a simple majority to a two-thirds supermajority.
Counting and Certification
The Department of Elections' unofficial count was updated at 3:03 a.m. on November 4, with all 530 election districts reporting and absentee counting marked complete in all three counties; about 384,710 ballots were cast statewide, a turnout of roughly 47.5% (preliminary). Figures are from the unofficial count and AP calls and await state certification; final results are subject to official certification, and GSM will update this list accordingly.
