Pennsylvania 2026 Election Results: Shapiro Reelected Governor as Democrats Take 11 House Seats and Flip the State Senate

Governor and U.S. Senator
Pennsylvania voted in the 2026 midterm elections on November 3. The results below are the collective choice of the state's voters. According to the Pennsylvania Department of State's official count and Associated Press race calls, Gov. Josh Shapiro was reelected, with Lt. Gov. Austin Davis reelected on the same ticket. No U.S. Senate seat and no statewide ballot question was on this year's ballot. All 17 U.S. House seats have been called: Democrats flipped the delegation to 11 seats against 6. The state Senate flipped to Democrats, 26-24, giving Pennsylvania its first Democratic trifecta — governor and both legislative chambers — since 1993.
Governor: Josh Shapiro (D, incumbent), 3,004,923 votes, about 60.4%, reelected. The AP called the race at 8:01 p.m. ET on November 3.
Governor, other candidates: Stacy Garrity (R, the state treasurer), 1,907,034 votes, about 38.3%; Ken Krawchuk (Libertarian), 64,433 votes, about 1.3%. Lt. Gov. Austin Davis (D) was reelected on Shapiro's ticket.
U.S. Senator: no election this year. Sen. John Fetterman's (D) seat is next contested in 2028, and Sen. Dave McCormick's (R) in 2030.
Other Statewide Offices
No other statewide office was on the ballot: the attorney general, state treasurer and auditor general are elected in presidential years, next in 2028. The incumbents are Attorney General Dave Sunday (R), Treasurer Stacy Garrity (R) and Auditor General Tim DeFoor (R).
The secretary of the Commonwealth is appointed, not elected; the incumbent, Al Schmidt, was appointed by the governor and confirmed by the state Senate. Pennsylvania has no elected state comptroller, and statewide judicial elections are held in odd years, so none was on this ballot.
Ballot Questions
No statewide ballot question or constitutional amendment appeared on this year's Pennsylvania ballot. Local questions in Philadelphia and elsewhere are city and county matters and are not part of this list.
U.S. House
Overview: all 17 seats were up and all 17 have been called. Democrats held 7 seats to the Republicans' 10 before the election; afterwards they hold 11 to 6, a net flip of four seats.
District 1: Bob Harvie (D), about 52.7%, defeated incumbent Brian Fitzpatrick (R), about 47.3% — a flip.
District 2: Brendan Boyle (D), reelected.
District 3: Chris Rabb (D), elected, succeeding the retiring Dwight Evans — a Democratic hold of an open seat.
District 4: Madeleine Dean (D), reelected.
District 5: Mary Gay Scanlon (D), reelected.
District 6: Chrissy Houlahan (D), reelected.
District 7: Bob Brooks (D) defeated incumbent Ryan Mackenzie (R) — a flip.
District 8: Paige Cognetti (D, the mayor of Scranton) defeated incumbent Rob Bresnahan (R) — a flip.
District 9: Dan Meuser (R), reelected.
District 10: Janelle Stelson (D) defeated incumbent Scott Perry (R) — a flip.
District 11: Lloyd Smucker (R), reelected.
District 12: Summer Lee (D), reelected.
District 13: John Joyce (R), reelected.
District 14: Guy Reschenthaler (R), reelected.
District 15: Glenn Thompson (R), reelected.
District 16: Mike Kelly (R), reelected.
District 17: Chris Deluzio (D), reelected.
Chinese American / Asian American winners: none among the 17 House winners. An Asian American win at the state-legislative level is noted under State Legislature.
State Legislature
State Senate: 25 of the 50 seats were up. Republicans held 27 seats to the Democrats' 23 before the election; afterwards Democrats hold 26 to 24 — a flip of control, the Democrats' first state Senate majority since 1993, ending Republican control dating to 1994.
State House: all 203 seats were up. Democrats held 103 seats to 100 before the election and kept control; the AP has called at least 111 seats for Democrats, with four districts still uncalled at the time of compilation and the final Republican total undecided.
Asian American winner: state Rep. Arvind Venkat (D), an Indian American and the Pennsylvania legislature's first Indian American member, was reelected in state House District 30; this item awaits confirmation against the Department of State's official count.
Counting and Certification
All figures are from the Pennsylvania Department of State's official count and AP calls as of the morning of November 4, with about 98.6% of precincts reporting. County canvasses are under way; the four uncalled state House districts are listed with their current standings only, and final results are subject to official certification. GSM will update this list as the remaining races are called.
